Reduce environmental impact while maintaining (or improving) original function.
Current blender - each part taken and analyzed separately
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
Reduce electricity consumption/impact of energy consumption during use
Reduce the amount of polycarbonate and ABS plastics
Reducing the amount of plastic in each component (specifically the housing)
Enabling the user to recycle components at end-of-life
The redesign uses polypropylene for the jar, reducing polycarbonate
After completing the re-design, I compared the enviromental impact of that to the original design. The re-design  decreased the enviromental imapct at all lifecycle phases of the product.
